I sold my saddle for $500. So, I started searching for cameras, comparing prices and getting information on different brands and stuff. I was looking for a digital SLR for sure, but since it's my first "super-nice camera" I'm still a little uneducated. My dad helped me out a ton though.
Anyway, it seemed to me as though everyone I talked to had a preference for Nikon instead of Canon. I've heard they're the same but I talked to a LOT of people and the majority of them said they preferred Nikon and had used both. I honestly don't care though, as long as it does what I want it to do.
Every camera I looked at and liked was out of my price range.
I got home from school one day, and my dad was sitting on the computer. He looked really excited and was like, "Leah come here now." I went over, and he was on Craiglist, and he had found a camera. On Craigslist. It was a Nikon D40, only used about once, and it came with the normal lense and also a tele-photo lens. Not only that, but it had a giant Nikon camera bag, 3 or 4 smaller bags, 2 extra batteries, four 4GB memory chips, everything that ever came with it, and also a bunch of expensive warranties. ALL.... for only $450. We were like, we have to get this before someone else does. So, we met up with the guy that same day, and there it was, most of the stuff had never even been touched.
So now I have my almost brand-new Nikon D40. I'm completely in love with it, and I barely know how to completely use it yet.
So to conclude this really long journal entry that you're probably getting tired of reading, I will let you know that you need to be on the lookout for a TON of new stuff coming. BEWARE. Leah and her Nikon are on the loose.
